CONTEMPORARY ART – MADE FROM DISCARDED FISH NETS

Beautiful artistic structures have recently been displayed around the harbour, as shown in these photographs by Mathew Facey. Using 3D printer technology, they have all been made with plastics from Cornish recycled fish nets.

Each unique piece reflects the creativity and construction technique of Michael Hunt and the Porthcurno Studios in Launceston, which primarily specialises in decorative homeware. It is rare to find art and industrial usage combined with evident care and concern for the environment.

At the last minute the G7 Conference in Carbis Bay took precedence over Mevagissey (!) which led to the redeployment of many of the items originally intended for our display.
